P4: Produce a plan for the structure and content of an original radio programme
Treatment:
Working title:
The name for my 30 minute lifestyle radio show will be The Film hour.
Synopsis:
This show will be about films. It will include 4 people, 1 presenter, and 3 guests. There will be four main parts to this show. The first main part will be about the guests' favourite movies. The second part will be a movie review of a film that one of the guests has recently seen in the cinema. The third part will be a game with the guests, each has to pick an item from a bag, and they are then given a movie genre, they are then told to come up with a movie title and plot based on that item and have 30 seconds to do so.
The whole radio show will be pre-recorded as this way anything that should not be included such as curse words that slipped could be edited in post production.
My target audience will be both genders at the age of 12 - 18. This is because my radio will be broadcast on Oaks Radio, a radio intended for a younger audience, this also means my guests and presenter will be within this target age as well, to appeal to the target audience. I would want my radio to play at a time when most people are relaxing, so I would play it at either 11:00 - 11:30 or 13:00 - 13:30. This is so I have the largest audience range as it is a time when most people of this age are enjoying themselves and/or eating.
The ideal presenter for this show is someone who is confident, has a nice sounding voice and can speak clearly, and just someone who is relatable.
The show will be presented in an informal manner as it is not only a convention of radio shows like this, but it needs to be fun and relaxing to be able to provide entertainment, something that cannot be provided if is formal. I would also like for the guests to be able to be relaxed and spontaneous because this adds to the radio show, but this cannot be done if it is formal, as any comedy will seem forced.

Equipment:
The equipment I am going to use to record and edit the show are:
- A Microphone (for the guests and presenter to speak into)
- A Computer (to use the recording software that will be used to record the radio show)
- Audacity (the recording software)
- A Studio Clock (so the presenter and guests all know what's happening at each moment and when it's going to happen.)
Production Schedule
Here is a Gantt chart for the production schedule for the rest of this production.
Below is a studio clock that I used to help plan out my production.
I will need this radio clock as it will be like a plan. A storyboard of checklist to follow with timestamps on it so I know how long to do each part of my production, which will prove useful in the final edit, because if I go over the time allowed, or under, it could cause problems.
Risk Assessment
Equipment I will be using:
I will be using a Marantz MPM-1000 Microphone. I will be using this particular model because it is a professional industry standard microphone, and has great recording and sound capture capabilities. This means I will have high quality audio in my radio production, and this microphone is surprisingly cheap for a professional microphone.

The software I shall be using the record this is a software called Audacity. The reason I will be using this software to record is because it's simple to use and I am familiar with using this software, and because of the fact that this software is the one that is already downloaded to be used in the sound studio I will be using.

- What is you least favourite Movie?
- What movie have you recently seen in the cinema?
