P1: Explain how the digital revolution will impact on your proposal for a new product
Here is the main brief for the new product:
Choice 1:
A fashion app. This app should be a new and exciting idea based on some aspect of fashion. Fashion holds a huge market share in the digital world and an innovative new product has the potential of being very successful. The app should be a new and exciting and a consideration given to future innovations.
Choice 2:
A Health and Well-being app. This app should be a new and exciting idea based on some aspect of health and well-being. Health and Well-being hold a growing market share in the digital world and an innovative product has the potential of being very successful. The app should be a new and exciting and a consideration given to future innovations.
I am going to pick option 2. I am going to do a Health and Well-being app because I know more about health and well-being than I do about fashion and I feel like it would be easier, I would also benefit from this greatly as there are more things you can do with health and well-being that is original, whereas with fashion, most things have already been done, so coming up with an original app would prove difficult.

Here is a timeline of the digital revolution researched by me and my fellow classmates.
We can notice that at the beginning of the timeline not much was happening, but as the years went by and the digital world expanded, more and more stuff is happening until we get to the 2010s where so much is happening it would be impossible to get everything down on the timeline we had, this is due to the ever growing capabilities of technologies increasing the potential for what we are capable of doing, and also increasing the rate of which the digital world grows. It has globally caused people to become more connected, as it is easier to talk to people from all over the world thanks to social media on phones and computers.
The digital revolution has changed peoples habits in many ways, one of the biggest examples i can think of is that there are a lot more people going on their phones and other computerised technologies a lot, and some are even addicted to it, whether it being games, social media or calls etc. There are lots of people with cameras and phones inside and outside taking photos of everything, and phone photos usually being uploaded to a social media such as Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram etc. In terms of mobile phones making life easier, it means that a lot of people have become less active.. shopping online instead of going to shops, messaging friends at home rather than going to their house, and watching films online rather than going to the cinema. But on the other hand, learning things is a lot easier with the endless source of information that is the world wide web.

I think that the digital revolution is heading in a good direction in terms of growth and popularity, at this point, there is no escaping the digital revolution unless you live in a very remote area, and the future of the digital revolution is one of ever increasing consumption of technology as well as faster more efficient technologies. In terms of health and fitness, while the usage of mobile phones and other technologies at home can make some people lazy, there are also a lot of health and fitness apps around and a lot of organisations online and guides to being healthy that people can follow at home, this can contribute to a workout and exercise routine. The digital resolution has also helped to increase the enjoyment of leisure activities, for example, in Alton Towers, there is a roller coaster called Galactica, that uses VR to create a scene of space while you ride the coaster and it makes it feel like you are soaring through space. However, the biggest flaws of the digital revolution are that it could have untold effect on the environment, as case studies show, even if not proven, the use of mobile phones that emit radio and microwaves are bad for health and the environment. The other flaw is that with the ever increasing development of technologies, people may become more reliant on such technology and less independent and less willing to do things for themselves, leading them to become lazy and unmotivated to do pretty much anything, especially in teenagers which can have devastating effects on their future if they let the technologies get in the way of exams and revision etc.
When it comes to cross platform usage, we can learn that it is changing rapidly for many reasons, for example to growth of social media in recent years due to larger companies using it as a cheap way to advertise their products, as well as more and more people signing up for trends as it is largely a part of society to have a social media account of some kind nowadays. However, there are downsides to this, for instance, cyber bullying and trolling has been higher than ever before and there isn't much in place to prevent it yet, so people can create alternate accounts to just troll or bully to their hearts content and there is nothing anyone can do about it, even logging off would not prevent it, as the trolling and bullying would still be there when you next log on, and yes, there is a block button, but should it really get to that point, only for another account to start the bullying?
Privacy is not always consistently safe on social medias with Facebook having multiple privacy scandals in the past, one example being the public's data and photos being sold for third party use and apps being developed to use private photos and make them viable to third parties.
For my app, i would have to consider privacy issues as my app will be able to record and save data for the user to keep a record of, and access to other apps such as the phone time how long the user has been working out for on that session. Therefore i will have to make sure it is only the individual user who can access the records and data.

To avoid issues and real life problems with social media, I will not include photo sharing, messaging or any social aspect in my app, i will make it personalised and private, similar to that of a pedometer app. The market research I will have to do is a lot to say the least as the app will be on the app store, and it will have a lot of competition. But, because it is on the app store as a downloadable mobile app, I will get more customers than I would if it was just a normal private website, this is because it is available to the public, and would reach a mass audience easier. The product will last a long time as people will use the app for different lengths of time and have different goals, cause there will always be people who want a fitness app.
