P2: Explain the changing media marketplace and how this has provided the opportunity for the proposed new product
Here is some research that I did on the history of a company and how it has evolved into the company we know today. I chose Facebook because it started out as just a small website, and today it is one of the biggest social medias that has branched out 2 other very popular apps as well as the main app. These apps are Facebook Messenger and Instagram.
Here we can see how Facebook has developed since it's launch in February 2004. And there are a lot of things to look at, there are a lot of key changes, such as the introduction of the like button in February 2009, the Facebook timeline in September 2011, and the launch of stickers in 2013. But there are also changes that occurred as a direct result of the digital revolution.
The digital revolution has changed a lot in recent years, the developing of cassettes and mobile phones were the start of a new era in technology, which since then have developed majorly. The first phone was made in 1973, and the self contained digital camera was engineered in 1975, ans since then, phones have been given cameras, the first camera phone being introduced in 2000, and many other features as the digital revolution went on. Facebook then got its own app in February 2014. The first smartphone in 1994 had over 10 inbuilt apps. Before iPhone and Android came IBM's Simon, the first ever smartphone launched in 1994. There was no app store, of course, but the phone came preloaded with several apps like Address Book, Calculator, Calendar, Mail, Note Pad, and Sketch Pad. These were also the first apps, created. Google play store and the apple app store would not come into the picture until 2008. Followed by Amazon app store in 2011.
Because of the digital revolution, streaming services such as Netflix, social medias such as Instagram, and internet search engines such as Google, appeared. This is because the digital revolution allows new companies and products to get out into the world easier which means new artists, companies and uploaders can emerge, thanks to companies, organisations and genres like YouTube, manga and google and all of this in response to costumer demand. For example, viewers want to see something new in terms of YouTube content, this would stimulate for a new uploader to emerge doing that content, who will eventually be discovered by these viewers, and grow in popularity. Or a streaming service looks at audience feedback and demand to decide which series should continue, what direction it should go in, and what the audience may want to see. This means that the digital revolution acts as a catalyst for all this to happen.
More and more new companies are emerging due to the digital revolution, but the amount of companies is not the only thing changing. The way in which the companies and product consumers are interacting is also changing, as more and more companies allow interaction with them online, such as shopping online and booking events online, etc. even news companies have websites in which you can read news stories online and leave a comment sharing your opinion with
others who may read it. The more the digital revolution grows, the more companies will use online methods.
These companies have different ways of getting their products out there for the consumers, however most come under two main methods: Market Pull, or Technology Push.
Market Pull is when a company looks at their product and finds out what a customer and consumer of a product wants, they react to it and make sure it fits their customers demand to make sure they get the maximum amount of people consuming their product.
Technology Push is when research and development in new technology, drives the development of new products. Technology Push usually does not involve market research. It tends to start with a company developing an innovative technology and applying it to a product. The company then markets the product.
An advantage of a big company would be that they can put lots of money into audience and product research and into development of new products.
A disadvantage of a big company would be that they monopolise the marketplace by buying smaller companies, to push the audiences to go to them to buy their products while pushing other smaller companies not owned by them out.
New companies are paving way, revolutionising the marketplace and setting the milestone for the next big product to come out, and making it possible for new consumers to experience new products and to access digital information.
In conclusion I can see by how Facebook has evolved that I should consider how my product will need to be able to change quickly and modify itself in the same way Facebook responds quickly to the shifty digital landscape.

P3: Describe roles required to support the content within the planned proposal
There are a lot of different jobs roles in app development, whether it is designers and planners of the app, the app builders or developers, or the higher end job roles, or visionary job roles, such as the Project manager.
When it comes to job roles in app development, the first roles that would come to mind would be the app developers. The developers of an app will either be a group/team of people, or only one or two people, it depends on the size and complexity of the app. For example, a simple app such as a pedometer, clock/calendar only requires one or two people to develop, but a more complex app such as google maps, or Minecraft Pocket Edition, would require multiple people to develop them. Developers are responsible for final creation and process the layouts and implement features to the final app.

A mobile app developer cannot just be computer savvy and have experience with computers and mobiles, for a mobile app developer has a specific skill set required
The required skills for an app developer are:
- Skills with programming and technical experience on a computer and mobile.
- Skills with user interfaces and knowing how to implement features such as colour scheme, and fast loading operations of the mobile app.
- To have a knowledge of multiple operation platforms in the current industry
- To know how to use and optimise the support components of an information system
- Have knowledge of programming using modern programming languages.
- Analytical skills - to develop apps that matter to people, app designers need to be able to access data quickly and efficiently, and then analyse what the data means for the consumer, products and processes.
- Developing and designing apps requires a strict attention to the smallest detail, because if the slightest thing is entered incorrectly or inefficiently, the app wont work the way its supposed to. It will develop bugs and glitches, crashes,or may just not work at all. These bugs would need a careful eye to fix.
- For a developer, writing code can be a long and tedious process, so the developer will need to be able to be patient, focus for long periods of time and persevere with a singular task and/or part until it is completed.
Another job role that would quickly come to mind when it comes to app creation, is the designer or design team. In a design team, there are four types of designers:
|
Some of the more obvious roles in any business are the visionary job roles. Also known as the project manager, business consultant etc. This role is highly significant as the lead role of the entire project. Their job is to lead the whole project to the vision of an ideal mobile app. So, there should be a significantly large and diverse knowledge of the business industry targeted my the mobile app project, as well as the consumers involved during marketing. The visionary must also make sure the app stays consistent to its plans and will bring in the money, as well as keeping to customer requirements.
|
There are also the lesser thought of, but the very important Quality Assurance Specialists and the Sales and Marketing Specialists.
Quality assurance specialists are the first audience for the app. They make sure the app is suitable for the target market and have the rights to decide whether the app is ready to be distributed or not. But they have to treat it like a focus group or like someone has just given a pitch presentation; so they would give feedback and get across their thoughts and feelings of the app. Sales and marketing specialists communicate with costumers working on branding and creating advertising materials and set up the marketing of the product, without these specialists, successful marketing of the app would be near impossible. |
